MasterChef India Season 9 has crowned its winners. Nagpur-based brothers Vikram Gandhe and Ajinkya Gandhe won the competition in the grand finale. Their victory came after weeks of intense culinary challenges that tested creativity, skill, and teamwork.
The finale episode aired on Friday, March 6, on Sony TV and the streaming platform SonyLIV. The season celebrated Indian cuisine and highlighted how traditional flavors can be transformed using modern cooking techniques.
Winners and Runners-Up of MasterChef India Season 9
Vikram and Ajinkya Gandhe secured the winning title and impressed the judges with their consistent performances throughout the competition.
The Odisha-based sister duo Anju and Manju finished as the first runners-up. Another strong team, Sai Sri and her mother Chandana, ended the competition as the second runners-up.
The winning Gandhe brothers received the Golden Chef Coat and a cash prize of ₹25 lakh.
The first runners-up, Anju and Manju, were awarded approximately ₹15 lakh.
Sai Sri and Chandana took home about ₹5 lakh as the second runners-up.
Journey of the Gandhe Brothers
The Gandhe brothers were among the strongest teams during the entire season. Their dishes often impressed the judges with balanced flavors and creative presentation.
Before joining the show, both brothers were already involved in the culinary world. They run a café together in Nagpur called Place, where they experiment with new food ideas and modern recipes.
Ajinkya Gandhe, the younger brother, is an architect by profession. At the age of 24, he opened his first café in Goa. His passion for food later brought him into the family’s café business with his brother Vikram.
Vikram Gandhe began his food journey much earlier. He started cooking professionally after opening a small canteen at the age of 19. This early experience helped him build the skills that later made him a strong contestant on the show.
Season 9’s Unique “Jodi” Format
Season 9 introduced a new “jodi” format for the first time in the history of the show. In this format, contestants competed in pairs rather than individually.
Family members, siblings, and partners formed teams. This added a new dynamic to the competition because teamwork and coordination became just as important as cooking skills.
The format allowed contestants to combine their strengths and support each other during difficult tasks.
Celebrity Judges and Tough Competition
The season was judged by three well-known chefs:
- Vikas Khanna
- Ranveer Brar
- Kunal Kapur
Throughout the season, contestants faced several challenging tasks. These included mystery box challenges, team cooking tasks, and elimination rounds.
Participants had to reinterpret traditional Indian dishes while using modern culinary techniques. Each challenge pushed contestants to be more creative and innovative.
After weeks of intense cooking battles, the competition finally narrowed down to the three strongest finalist teams, with the Gandhe brothers emerging as the ultimate winners.
